Welcome to the Youth Policy Institute’s School/Community Partnership Toolkit! This toolkit is to provide a framework and set of tools for community organizations and schools to build partnerships.

There are several features to this interactive toolkit:

  1. Guiding Framework: A 7-Step framework for Building Partnerships. This toolkit is organized according to these seven steps. You will find explanations of each of these steps and tools (worksheets) that you can use to help organize your partnership.
  2. Field Notes: Throughout the toolkit, you’ll find boxes called Field Notes. These provide concrete examples from the Los Angeles-based Youth Policy Institute’s Valley Family Technology Project (VFTP). These examples are meant to help the reader better understand how the partnership framework described in this toolkit works. For more information about the VFTP click on the About YPI link at the bottom of the left column.
  3. Video: Look for links to video footage of interviews with various stakeholders in the VFTP partnership

Many thanks to the National Institute on Out of School Time (NIOST), Education Development Center, America Connects Consortium, and the U.S. Department of Education for supporting the development of this toolkit.
