Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP)

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, YPI provides physical education resources for ten public schools predominantly serving low-income and Latino families. The three-year program funded by the U.S. Department of Education in 2010 links to the California state content standards for physical education to provide fitness, curriculum, equipment and technology, and professional development for lifelong physical activity and nutrition.

Incorporating a professionally reviewed curriculum, the Carol White program offers fitness plans for students, teachers, and families at the target schools. Each school also develops and implements individual fitness and nutrition projects of interest to the school community. These include a community garden, a soccer team, or a rock climbing wall such as in place at Bert Corona Charter School.
