YPI's Bert Corona Charter School achieved a 43-point API increase in 2013, the fourth largest gains of any middle school in Los Angeles. The average API increase for YPI Schools was 25.5 points. This increase is significantly higher than the average 0.1 point decrease for all district and charter middle schools in Los Angeles.
YPI Schools have increased by 252 points over the last three years of API scores, an average annual growth rate of 28 points per school. The YPI Schools model reflects the ongoing effectiveness of innovative programs and partnerships now being implemented across the Los Angeles Promise Neighborhood.
Los Angeles Promise Neighborhood Schools
YPI congratulates the schools of the Los Angeles Promise Neighborhood for a 303-point API increase in 2013. The average API increase was 18 points, with eight schools increasing by more than 30 points. This 18-point increase compares very favorably with the overall statewide average decrease of 2 points.
The schools of the Promise Neighborhood are a groundbreaking partnership of traditional LAUSD schools, charter schools, and pilot schools. YPI and the Promise Neighborhood collaborative commit to building on this outstanding academic achievement in the years ahead.
