Director of the Supplemental Services
Enrique Villagrana began his career with YPI as the Director of the Supplemental Educational Services (SES) program, where he has been instrumental in growing the program from serving 300 students during the first year to close to 3, 000 students annually. In the past nine years, he has supported with the implementation of AmeriCorps, VISTA, and other tutoring intervention grants. Prior to joining YPI, he worked with an AmeriCorps program that provided before school, during school, and after school tutoring services in Oakland, CA.
Mr. Villagrana was the first in his family to attend and graduate from a four- year university. He truly believes that higher education plays a critical role in transforming lives, in particular for low-income communities. Mr. Villagrana takes pride in being able to provide low-income students with free tutoring services. Mr. Villagrana obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley, where he studied Sociology. In 2015, Villagrana earned his Master’s of Science degree in Leadership and Management from the University of La Verne.
