Everyone On

Today at the Hollywood FamilySource Center, Youth Policy Institute (YPI) partnered with Los Angeles Unified School District, national non-profit Connect2Compete, the California Emerging Technology Fund, and L.A.-based low-cost broadband provider FreedomPop to celebrate 80 new centers for digital literacy skills training at L.A. schools, community centers and public housing.

According to "Everyone On," a new public service campaign to expand broadband access, over 80% of Fortune 500 companies--including Costco, Target and Wal-Mart--require online job applications, and in the next decade, it is estimated that nearly 80% of jobs will require digital skills—but 62 million Americans do not use the Internet. Over 23,000 Angelenos are already accessing YPI's computer centers each week—a critical step in building a 21st century workforce in Los Angeles.
