Youth Policy Institute’s Executive Council is a group of Los Angeles-based professionals dedicated to the success of YPI’s mission to fight persistent intergenerational poverty.

We are an active team of friend-raisers and fundraisers, sharing the stories of YPI’s hands-on work and building an unprecedented, much-needed base of support for the organization.

With the help of President Obama’s Promise Neighborhood and Promise Zone initiatives, YPI and its partners are serving over 100,000 families at 137 program sites across the City. These initiatives are making important progress in academic achievement, college readiness, and the growth of family income. We are committed to the future of Los Angeles and the ongoing success of the Promise Neighborhood programs in Hollywood and Pacoima, plus the Promise Zone neighborhoods of Koreatown, Pico-Union and Westlake. Private gifts are directed where they are needed most, based on community needs and priorities in Education, Health and Wellness, and Community Development.

Private dollars help government dollars work smarter and harder—by filling important gaps, enhancing programs and supporting the work that government dollars cannot, such as outcomes measurement, capacity building, matching gifts and strategic planning. New private donors at all levels will sustain the critical programming created by current opportunities, and help keep them alive in Los Angeles for years to come.

The YPI Executive Council meets quarterly. Members have the opportunity to create their own fundraising dinner parties and other events, in addition to taking part in the following:

• Team YPI at the Los Angeles Marathon (March)
• Taste of Spring wine tasting event (May)
• Back-to-School site visits with backpack/school supply donations (August)
• Promise to Los Angeles Annual Gala (October)
• Holiday Harvest Baskets and Year-End Giving (November–December)
• Bi-annual professional clothing drive
