Youth & Family Services

Programming

YPI is the only Los Angeles organization operating a full range of center-based family and youth services programming through the city’s YouthSource, FamilySource, and WorkSource Centers.

Collectively at these Centers, YPI provides families in need with job training, skill building, employment support, financial literacy, tax preparation, legal services, assistance applying for public benefits, computer classes and access, adult education programs, parenting classes, leadership development training, cultural and recreational activities, and referrals to health care, housing, and emergency services.

YPI supports families by utilizing an intensive case management system at our Hollywood FamilySource Center. YPI’s WorkSource Center in Pacoima houses an innovative Financial Opportunity Center, which integrates financial coaching with workforce development and assistance obtaining income supports. Clients are encouraged to move through the entire continuum of services in order to maximize the benefit of each.

YPI also operates two City of Los Angeles YouthSource Centers, serving Opportunity Youth and disconnected youth ages 16-24.  The core services provided are the following, Case Management: Youth are connected with a Case Manager who works with them to develop Individual Service Plans. Together they work on creating short and long term goals and how to address barriers they may be facing; Academic Support: With an Academic Instructor at each center, youth can receive tutoring, Adult Basic Education workshops, Adult High School assistance (GED, HiSET), along with referrals to secondary school options; College & Career Exposure: Youth are connected with a College & Career Specialist who works with them to identify vocational training, postsecondary, and employment options. Youth also engage in Career Club, a work readiness curriculum, after which they have the option to complete a paid internship; Leadership & Personal Development: Opportunities are given to youth to engage in leadership and personal development activities such as community service events, speaking engagements, connections to mentors, and other special projects; Supportive Services: Upon enrollment into a program, youth are eligible to receive a variety of supportive services. Supportive services may include transportation assistance, access to legal services, referrals to other agencies, needs-based payments, work and/or school reimbursements.
