The YPI Hollywood FamilySource Center will offer comprehensive services for low-income families including intensive case management, pre-employment and employment support, youth leadership, tutoring, Cash for College and other college preparation services, legal services, financial literacy, recreational activities, computer literacy, adult education (GED and ESL), parenting classes, cultural activities, free tax preparation, and referrals to health care, housing, and emergency services. YPI will utilize the City's One-e-App to ensure clients are able to access the full range of subsidies and benefits available to them.
"There is nothing more fundamental in the fight against poverty than increasing family income and academic achievement," said YPI Executive Director, Dixon Slingerland. "This is why the Youth Policy Institute wholeheartedly endorses the FamilySource Center approach and is proud to be the operator of the Hollywood FamilySource Center in the historic Mayer Building."
The Youth Policy Institute (YPI) provides education, technology, and training to lift Los Angeles families out of poverty. YPI has an annual budget of $29 million with 1,100 staff based at 95 program sites throughout L.A. YPI offers afterschool, charter schools, job training, preschool, physical education, adult education, computer literacy, family services, case management, parenting, tutoring, and college preparation.
