Hollywood, CA (February 8, 2010) - YPI proudly announces the grand opening of the Hollywood FamilySource Center, the flagship poverty program of the City of Los Angeles.

The grand opening is scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday, February 11 at 2:00 PM at the YPI Hollywood FamilySource Center (5500 Hollywood Boulevard). YPI will be joined by many special guests and dignitaries including Los Angeles City Council President Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles Unified School District Board Member Steve Zimmer, and representatives of the L.A. Community Development Department.

YPI's partners in the FamilySource Center include Bet Tzedek Legal Services, Hollygrove, Los Angeles Valley College, Salvadoran American Leadership and Educational Fund, Thai Community Development Corporation, and the UCLA Community Based Learning Program.

The YPI Hollywood FamilySource Center will offer comprehensive services for low-income families including intensive case management, pre-employment and employment support, youth leadership, tutoring, Cash for College and other college preparation services, legal services, financial literacy, recreational activities, computer literacy, adult education (GED and ESL), parenting classes, cultural activities, free tax preparation, and referrals to health care, housing, and emergency services. YPI will utilize the City's One-e-App to ensure clients are able to access the full range of subsidies and benefits available to them.

"There is nothing more fundamental in the fight against poverty than increasing family income and academic achievement," said YPI Executive Director, Dixon Slingerland. "This is why the Youth Policy Institute wholeheartedly endorses the FamilySource Center approach and is proud to be the operator of the Hollywood FamilySource Center in the historic Mayer Building."
