Watch Mayor Garcetti highlight the Los Angeles Promise Zone
in his State of the City speech this morning
2016 graduation rates are now official and across our 10 Promise Neighborhood high schools, the graduation rate was an historic 86.1%. Up 5.6 percentage points from last year. This rate is for the first time higher than the overall California graduation rate of 83.2% despite much higher rates of poverty.
Here’s a closer look at graduation rate progress in the Promise Neighborhood.
Four schools are now above 90%.

Two schools had unheard of double-digit gains in one year.

The first graduating class at YPI’s Sylmar Biotech Health Academy had a strikingly high graduation rate of 87.2%.
Mayor Garcetti also highlighted Ilene Garcia’s remarkable story and that of her school, STEM Academy of Hollywood, in his State of the City address today.
