We provide physical education resources to seven low-income Los Angeles schools and their surrounding communities.
Our program helps students and families improve fitness and general nutrition through physical activities and workshops that cover health, nutrition and fitness.
HOW IT WORKS
We provide physical education resources to seven low-income Los Angeles schools and their surrounding communities. The three-year program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, provides fitness, curriculum, equipment, technology, and professional development for lifelong physical activity and nutrition.
Our goal is to help students understand, improve, and maintain physical well-being, while working with families to help them make well-informed health, nutrition, and fitness choices.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- Increase the proportion of students who engage in 60 minutes of daily physical activity.
- Increase the percentage of students who achieve age appropriate cardiovascular fitness levels.
- Increase the proportion of students meeting the daily dietary recommendations of fruits and vegetables.
- Increase the percentage of students meeting the six areas of physical fitness as defined by the California Physical Fitness Test (Fitnessgram).
