Two YPI mother’s received recognition today as Madres Campeonas (Champion Mothers) by District 2 board member, Monica Garcia.
Maria del Rosario Martinez from San Fernando High School and Beatriz Navarro from Vaughn Charter School were two of the women who received the Guillermina Award: Madre Campeona which recognizes women who are leaders within their communities and who impact their children’s education with their efforts. This award honors Guillermina Corrales Garcia, board member Garcia’s mother and serves as a symbol of women strength and the role they play in their children’s education.
These two women embody the core of what this award represents by donating countless hours of their time to their schools. Ms. Martinez has helped from preparing packets for parent workshops to creating mementos for San Fernando High teachers. Likewise, Ms. Navarro has helped coordinate food programs for families in need as well as assist at Vaughn’s Family Center. Both do so with an enthusiasm that touches those who are fortunate to work along side them.
Felicidades mama’s campeonas!
