YPI’s Back to School Fair and Backpack Giveaway

Everything you need to start the school year right: a new backpack, school supplies, a fresh haircut, and a big smile! YPI hosted a Back to School Resource Fair at San Fernando Gardens Community Center located in the Pacoima Public Housing Complex. 231 youth from infancy through high school received free services, including vision screenings.

Good+Foundation, California Children’s Academy, Kids’ Community Dental Clinic, Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, Jumpstart UCLA, LAPD Foothill Division Cadets Program, Los Angeles Public Library: Pacoima Branch, Northeast Valley Health Corporation, Office of Congressman Tony Cardenas, Office of Councilmember Felipe Fuentes, San Fernando Gardens Resident Advisory Council, Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind, Volunteers of America Greater Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Probation Department, Western Barber Institute, Los Angeles Housing and Community Investment Department and Welcome Baby.

Fast Facts:

  • 123 free backpacks given to youth 2 years old through high school

  • 231 youth received a free book

  • 55 youth, from infants through high school age, received free haircuts

  • 22 youth received free vision screenings

  • 26 families received a free child safety car seat

  • 36 volunteers
